I want to put my PC in other room to make my working/gaming place completely silent. I'm planing to buy u2713hm, a 15m displayport cable and a 15m usb 3.0 cable. The monitor has a usb hub built in, so I can hook everything I need there.
However I'm concerned whether using a 15m cable will have any side effects?
Right now I found this cable, not sure if that matters:

Hi
You can wiki you q-n but in short :
You can have more than 2 or 15 meters Display Port Cable but :
Longe Cable = Lower Resolution ( Bandwight )
You can consider you idea or you budget :)
You can have very EXPENCIVE cables or you can use allot $ for extenders :
http://www.gefen.com/kvm/ext-dp-2cat7.jsp?prod_id=11095
Or you can invest in good PC Case with good CPU Cooler and Good GPU cooler to score the SILENT PC !
In you case the silence is not cheap !
I have very silent PC believe me but you have the wrong path to score it .....

It doesn't support 2560 x 1440, which is what my monitor's resolution is.
P.S. I wish it would be that easy. :(  It would be the perfect solution. However, I can't seem to find any wireless solution that would support 2560 x 1440. And that's not a surprise, considering how much data needs to be transferred.

It says there:
Quote:
The DISPL15MA 15m Active DisplayPort® Cable features a built-in active signal booster for a connection distance of up to 50 feet (15m) between your DisplayPort-enabled devices - more than double the DisplayPort connection distance limitation of 16ft, with no signal loss

Also The 15m cable offers a bandwidth of 10.8 Gbps with support for maximum resolutions up to WQXGA (2560×1600)
I don't think they would lie about the resolution. However, colors and everything else is another story. And it would be interesting to know if there will be some loss there.

I don't want fans at all near me. I'm very sensitive to noise, even my notebook annoys me greatly if I can hear it work. That's why I'm willing to pay extra 200$ to bring zen to my working place :jap:

Just a thought but if you go for a liquid cooled setup you could probably run your water lines to a closet or something and do your cooling in there.

Alternatively if you had the money for one of those 4k monitors that takes 2 HDMI inputs maybe you could use two Gigabyte wireless dealies?

Finally, earplugs cost $10 at the pharmacy and will give you the silence you want without sacrificing picture quality.

Earplugs... :D
Thanks for the distant liquid cooling suggestion. It might be a better solution, I'll do some research on that and perhaps make a thread to find ppl who already done it and know what it will take.
But are you sure that there will be picture loss, if the cable says that there's a built-in active signal booster? I still want some plan B, in case distant cooling will cost more or I'll realize it will be too hard to implement (this is my first build and a I'm newb)

My personal point here :
If you liquid all you system = CPU , GPU you will reduce 2 FAN`s + 2 or 3 for SYS FFAN`s = 4-5 FAN`s
But you have 1 Liquid pomp that = sound of 1-2 SYS FAN`s
I personaly think that you not gain lower sound with liquid
Better performance and lower temp yes and OC option Yes ...... noise ....... i`m not sure

The second option is to liquid only the CPU fan = you not reducing any thing from noise point of view - you still have pomp or fan on Liquid radiator

So i prefer to invest in good Case - there are many good one ....
With 3 x Lower noise 800 - 900 RPM SYS fans
And invest in good silent CPU fan - f.e. i have ARCTIC Freezer i30 : http://www.arctic.ac/en/p/cooling/cpu/472/freezer-i30.h...
I have under 50 degree on 100 % load and under 1500 RPM - you CANT hear this one .....
Now as for the GPU if you intend to GAME you can`t save you self from the GPU FAN Noise
But why you care so much ....... you gonna play with Volume on the 100% so don`t care about the GPU FAN noise :)

Seriosly i prefer SAPPHYRE VAPOR-X GPU`s - they have 20 % lower noise and 10 degree less warm load temp.....
So playing 2 hrs you wont note the difference in noise overal on the system.
At least i can`t on mine :)
!
