Hi, just want to hear thoughts, opinions and insights on my planned gaming pc rig. Is something overkill or needs improvement???

CPU - LGA 1150 i5 4670K

Motherboard - MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming

VGA - MSI GTX 760 Hawk (Planning to do SLI after a year. Like the backplate on the Hawk Ed eventhough the Gaming Ed goes with the "theme" black & red)

PSU - Seasonic x750 80 Plus Gold

RAM - 8GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer (Like the LED, planning to get case fans with LED too, and Bitfenix Alchemy LED Strips)

SSD - Samsung 840 Series 120GB (Can't squeeze in HDD on a one go purchase with all the other components, but will get 1TB WD after 1 month)

CPU Cooler - CM Hyper 212X (Plan to OC using OC Genie of MSI Mobo)

Case - NZXT Phantom 530 (Like the spaciousness of the case, window paneled and sleek outer design

Monitor - LG 23EA63V (Planning to buy 2 more after a year together with another MSI GTX 760 Hawk for 2way SLI and Surround Gaming)

Prices where I live is about 40% - 50% more than US prices...

Would be playing DoTA 2, Dragon Nest, Crysis, Battlefield and the sorts @ 1080p

Looking forward to your expert thoughts.. Thanks a lot :)

Well rounded build, that's pretty much balls to the walls gaming rig. I can't really suggest anything anymore since you've got it all good. If you wanna cut about $50 or so, you could drop down to Z77 and a 3570k which are still great performers in relation to Haswell. But if you're fine with this, I say "Pull the trigger!"

But they say that haswell performs a bit better than ivy, but the latter has more oc capabilities which i won't be tweaking for anytime soon, would only be using MSI's OC Genie (atleast 3yrs, warranty period for CPU) and they say it's a good buy for it's new and just about $25 more than ivy..

Pretty solid build. I would suggest a 1TB Seagate barracuda (like you said, after a month) and not WD cause WD saves electricity and Seagates are faster.

Yes, a BIT better. If you think that the performance boost's cost is justifiable, then shoot for it. However, if you would ask me, I'd still go for the Ivy Bridge. Read on here for Haswell benches: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/core-i7-4770k-haswell-review,3521.html

thanks for the replies...
would like to raise 1 more question though,

could my PSU handle the needed power to accommodate 2 way SLI GTX 760 Hawk?
Should I go for a Seasonic x850 or that won't be necessary?

I Think that the x850 will be plenty enough and good for future builds so go ahead and get that.

what would suffice? the x750 that I mentioned at first or I really need the x850?

would be running a total of 6 LED fans (3x200mm, 1x140mm, and 2x120mm) and a G.Skill Turbulence II RAM Cooler in addition to the above components that I listed.

if the x750 would not cut it, I'd definitely go for the x850
would just need confirmations first :)

The x750 will definitely run your rig, with all every component you've just said. A 650W PSU will run a 2-way SLI rig, and a lot of examples in the market advertise them as SLI or CrossfireX ready, although that might be stretching it a bit. I guess Mirak suggested the x850 if you wanted more power for more expansion, and more peace of mind, of course.

Yeah you would need the x850 For

1. Future upgrades
2. if you wanna have More than one GPU
3. You have 6 FANS so yeah

Th x850 Will be perfect!

Mirakledba and faster23rd,

you two contradict each other lol
one says the x750 is sufficient while the other wants me to go for the x850

In essence, yes we do, but I did acknowledge Mirak's suggestion as an alternative to mine. We're presenting OP with choices, just helping out and nothing more. :)

True :) I just like to have room for future upgrades.

so bottomline,

x750w is sufficient (SLI + Other Components that I mentioned)

x850w is just for me to have room for other upgrades

right?

Pretty much. That really is it. If you have more questions, just shoot 'em. Otherwise, just choose a best answer to close the thread.
