Hi guys,
I am thinking of getting a new MB and a 2nd Sapphire 7970, which will cost me over $500.

Sapphire 7970 = $290
Asus Sabertooth = 235

The other option is a single GTX 770 or something like that. What would you do, and what would you buy?

i would cf it, since u already have the first card, no point even for a single 780,
the best bet(my opinion) waiting 1-2weeks before getting the 2nd card, see amd price war, if it might lower down the price even more, or maybe u interest in dual amd new gpu,or the eagerly waited r290x

my advice is to wait first~

Yeah, I was thinking about that too... A single card will cost more than crossfire + new MB.

A new single 290x (if priced reasonably) might be a good way to go too...

y sabertooth though?

Not 100% set on the sabertooth, but it just looks awesome, and its an ASUS... I'm thinking of ASUS or GigaByte. I've had problems with MSI, but I'd probably still look into these.

I'm not going to OC the CPU or RAM, but I will OC the GPU, if needed. With dual 7970 cards, I probably won't need to.

im using msi z77 mpower right now,4.3 is stock cooler is fine
i always advice people to take a look at used market of ur country if those were fine

i still remember a guy selling rog extreme at the price of new sabertooth
if i were u i would just change to haswell, and haswell mobo is better feature
since we didnt change mobo very often maybe this is a good time for a little upgrade

what ur current cpu btw?

If I upgrade the chipset to 1150, that means I need a new CPU. I don't want to buy a new CPU + MB + GPU. My CPU was free, so I'll stick with this for now.

Current System:
Corsair HX 750
i7 3770 (non-k) - Hyper 212+
MSI B75MA-E33 (Lan port died on me).
Sapphire 7970 3GB w/ Boost
4x Noctua 12A ULN Fans
8GB (4x2GB) g.Skill 1600MHz
1x PCI-E 1gbit LAN

if u sell the ivy, and get haswell, u might only need to add a few buck for it,(i7 4770)
try look around at how much u can sell the cpu first, cpu price does not go down easily, or u might able to make a 1 on 1 trade with a some cash

if new amd is really that good as it rumors, u might just want to change to a cheaper mobo, that support 2 way sli,3 way u can just forget, hardly that good of a config.
and make most of the money to the gpu

and how did lan port died?weird..

That is one really sweet MB! I might go with a cheaper MB and get a 2nd 7970. The new drivers appear to solve a lot of the microstutter, from the reading I've done...

I want to make sure that come November, when a lot of the new games start coming out, my PC can keep up w/ the ultra settings. Games like Watch Dogs, BF4, etc...

lol, wait for the 2nd 7970, just a give a week or 2 for the new amd
i heard aboout the driver, i also heard it is not consistent yet..

What do you mean wait? Can you crosffire a 7970 and a 280x, or do you mean for a price drop?
October 1, 2013 10:15:20 AM

that might be possibly done with some modding, but that not wat i mean
u might want to wait, if the new line up(that is better then 7970) might interest u
