Desktop Pc freezes. After Windows 7 startup, and even when using linux on live USB

So I am currently trying to find out what exactly is causing my desktop PC to malfunction. If I boot normally to Windows 7 it freezes up from either right after starting up or a couple minutes after. Only thing I can do after is shut it down by unplugging cable or pressing the button.

At first, I thought it may be just some program that starts up automatically that makes my PC freeze up. But then I tried using it with a Live USB which has Linux on it. I began using it and the same thing happened, the computer froze in around 5 minutes. I Also tried it with my other live USB running Crunchbag and the same thing happened.

However, when I use windows in safe mode it does not freeze up, or at least it hasn't. I used safe mode to disable start up applications and remove some programs I had recently installed then rebooted, and still same problem.

Any ideas on what could be wrong?

I forgot to add them here they are:

HP Pavilion a775c
OS: Windows 7
4 GIG Ram
Pentium 4 3.4 ghz processor
250 gig HD & 1TB HD
