Specs for a gaming/low end editing laptop?

Hey, so recently my old MSI broke, and i've decided that its probably not worth the money to try to fix it, considering its probably the videocard thats broken. Anyway,
what would i look into getting for a mid-high end gaming PC, and a mid end video editing PC? I'm quite a gamer, and i've thought about putting some time into doing some videos, so i was just wondering what you guys would recommend for that

Also what brands can you recommend? Thinking about an Asus, not sure though.

i found this awesome deal on newegg.com for this laptop it great except for the fact that it is window 8 not 7 but that just personal preference

I take it with this that range for what you would want is 1200-1500? The problem is that you would likely want to buy from a custom shop so you can get a whitebook fitted with a better screen for accurate color

15.6" or 17"???
