Hello , I bought a 7970 HD Vapor-X 3gb GHZ Edition a month ago , and ever since I've been displeased by it's performance , I've got almost half the FPS (even worse in some cases) that this Graphicscard should be running in almost any game..
here are the details on system :

i5 750 2.67ghz *never been overclocked
6gb 1333mhz ram
660 watt psu
GA-P55-US3L
Win 7 x64

So I've been thinking about buying a new Motherboard and a CPU ,

-Intel Core i5 4670K Haswell 3.4Ghz 6MB L3 Cache s1150
-Gigabyte GA-H87M-D3H LGA1150, Intel H87, DDR3 1600

Do you guys think that upgrading those parts would solve the bottlenecks and finally set my high temper free -.-?? It sure is annoying to buy such an expensive card to be let down by it's crappy performance..

I would sure appreciate if you guys would respond and share your thoughts on this!

Thank you!

Almost all of the games , especially BF3 and BF4 Beta , the rest do have lame fps but playable. do you guys think that 4670k and H87 are a good choice in order to prevent bottlenecks?

the easiest way to find out is run something like open hardware monitor, it will show a plot of your CPU usage and GPU usage during the games. If it shows the CPU to be 100% and GPU below 100% then you're CPU is bottlenecking and vice-versa.

A 7970 is a beast of a card, I would imagine its putting that i5 750 threw its paces at that clock. If it were clocked higher then Im sure you would see much better performance. Im sorry to say that I do think that your CPU is whats holding you back.

Sometimes its more then this, for example, my buddies i7 920 at 2.66ghz bottlenecks his 6770 in DayZ, but both GPU and CPU are not pegged to 100%, But my old Phenom II x4 940 at even 3.5ghz would run circles around that i7 in DayZ on a 6770. Tho it wasn't being pushed near 100% both GPU and CPU. Not saying your wrong, not tring to flame ya at all. Its just there is more to it then this, some games will bottleneck before 100% load on anything, usually from them games that don't use multi core system properly.

Even budget ivy bridge quads wont bottleneck that graphics card

the 750 is starting to show its age but it wont be bottlenecking that graphics card much at 1080p resolutions and above .

You have a driver problem , or windows problem
