Can a halogen lamp cord with transformer be replaced with a standard plug ?

My power cord for my halogen desk lamp broke, the round post that goes into the transformer came off(the flat one is fine). Can the power cord be replaced with an ordinary one that plugs into wall socket.

Sounds like your lamp uses a 12V halogen bulb,so no you cannot power your lamp directly from the wall.
You will either need a new transformer or a new cord from wall to transformer depending whether pin broke in transformer or plug.
