SSD drive with o/s and normal SATA HDD for files not working

I have recently built a new pc and having went for a SSD drive to have the os and vital programs installed on whilst having a 1tb normal 3.5" SATA HDD to store all other data, games, music etc...
But windows does not pick up on my secondary HDD (1tb sata) only runs of the SSD. Yet in the bios both drives are present. Any ideas how to have access to this drive in windows? I have never had any RAID configurations etc... Experience before but from what I’ve read it should pick up both these drives automatically? Both drives are plugged into sata 6g/s slots as they are both 6g/s compatible.

thanks for posting a reply, but I am still unsure as to how to get the drive to be accessible in windows?

Managed to fix it by going into diskmgmt.msc and basically formatting the drive into NTFS.
