a black line at the bottom of laptop screen almost covering the task bar

I have a hp pavilion laptop with windows vista. recently a black line has appeared on the screen at the bottom. the line's thickness gradually increases and now the task bar is almost covered. please help me.

The screen has gone bad. Try to replace it. There is no other way to fix it.
