Psu pcie pin help urgent!!

Okay so for my birthday I got a gtx770 and a gs800 psu, the gtx 770 has an 8 pin and a 6 pin slot but my psu for the labeled pcie cables has a 6 and a 2, can I use a 6 and a 2 for the 8 pin as they fit and a second pcie 6 pin for the 6 pin slot? Or will that not work?
