Need help choosing monitor

I've recently completed my first pc build and am now looking to buy a monitor. I reckon I'd like either a 24" or 27", not sure if 27" would be overkill? What do you reckon is the sweet spot?
I will be mainly gaming and using CAD programs, and my girlfriend will be using it a lot for office stuff so need an all-rounder.
I think budget would be in the region of £200, but I'd rather spend less.
Any help greatly appreciated!

I'd go with the 27" if you are using programs like CAD for work. It helps if you need to multitask.
