Hi,

This is a basic question, but I am wondering if running my GTX 760 reference card at close to 90c with 90+% fan speed at 99% GPU load will significantly hurt its lifespan. This doesn't happen all the time, but every once in a while I get a very demanding/unoptimized game like Sleeping Dogs or BF4 Beta and my only two choices are two either turn the settings way down or deal with over 90% fan speed at around 90c.Nvidia says that it can handle anything up to 97c, so am I wrong to be worried or should I revert to lower settings for some games to avoid straining my system?

The card will be fine as long as it does not exceed the thermal limit though 90c is quite high. Check you case air flow.

Your card may have a problem if you are running it at 90c (that is just way too hot). It should run 75c at max overclock and around 45-60 on stock. And to answer your question yes, your cards lifespan with quickly end if you keep running it around 90c.
