can dvi cables overheat and burn

My brother used play dota2 overnight then suddenly one day when i want to use the computer the moniter statues said dvi:no signal(the moniter statues is surppose to be like that) so i am expecting the dvi cable burnt then few weeks later i on the computer and tried to unplug and plug in again but i unplug it the moniter told me to check the video wire

It's a new thing i am listening . I didn't knew this.
I think it is not the cable that burns , it is the pins of the connector that may burn in extreme conditions.

Yes, but it's not likely.

Chances are that the problem lies elsewhere.
