Why would a Network 2 appear on my computer

I have AT&T U-verse for my computer, home phone, and television. Lately my computer is not working properly. While looking for the reason, i see there is a Network 2 for the wifi connection. What does this mean, please.

By default Windows assigns to the connection name “Local Area Connection 1”, and every time a change is made, it advances the number.

Functionally it does Not matter what the number.

I've often seen where my computer tries to connect to both networks (e.g. Network 2 and my named (SSID) home network) and neither work properly. Manually disconnect from both and manually reconnect to the proper one.
