I just built a new computer which you can see here http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1CYqo and I have everything except the GPU and the PSU. I decided my old parts were still good and used them in my new build but now I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card and I'm not sure my power supply can handle it.

At the moment, I'm using a GTX 460 I got off my friend for 20$ (He got a new gaming laptop the same week practically from his parents and knew I was hurting for a gpu so he let me have it basically) and a 530w RaidMax http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817152028

I know RaidMax is supposed to be terrible and I didn't know it at the time but it's been good to me for 4 years or so. But I need to know if it will be able to run the gtx 760 i want to get http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130944

It says the minimum is 500w and the RaidMax is 530w but am I pushing it? I'd rather not get a new psu if this one has been good to me and can handle it.

Thanks for your time!

GTX 460 takes this much power.

And 760 this much.

Maybe best If I do NOT say anything about that PSU you have :D

But I can say that there is really cheap new 550w PSU from XFX :)

I'm not saying this is good but it was cheap too. For 750w psu.

I read up on RaidMax before posting this, I still don't know why they are so hated lol :D

I don't think I'd go with the 550w if it's only 20w more, I'd be more inclined to go with the 750w but you're saying it's not that good? What's wrong with it?

And do you think it's necessary to even get a new one if the one I have has been doing well and is only slightly below guru3d's recommended wattage?

I have had one one "blown" PSU. It did strike about 1m long lightning when I did push first time start button. Then fuse did cut power. MoBo did die and so on. No you maybe can use your PSU as long it works.
I look for better psus like gold or better ones. I really want PSU last long and be reliable. Maybe Corsair is good. But I know lot better ones like Rosewill Capstone. Good efficiency and long 5 year warranty. Gives enough wattage one video card systems. Reliable unit. Not cheap but works for sure. Gives over 600w to 100% load. This is what I call good psu. :)
