Morning Everyone,

For the past two months, my desktop PC has begun to randomly shut down instantly (loss of power). At first, it was rare, and I was able to turn back on without any problems.

However, the problem began to become more frequent, and the PC now occasionally fails to post when turned on as well. It may take 3-4 tries of turning it on or off to get it to post, and considering the PC is about 4-5 years old, I suspect some components may be dying, but I need advice on how to pinpoint the direct problem.

That being said, I have already replaced the power supply, thinking that may be the issue, but it seems to have no effect.

Any thoughts?

Could it be the cable or outlet? I had the same issue and felt like an idiot when I figured it out.

It's possible (and thankfully, easily to swap out and test over time).

However, that wouldn't explain the failure to post when powered on, so I suspect not.

It would have to be the motherboard then, have you tried resetting the cmos?
