I have a Gateway 505gr that I just realized has only a PCI express 1x16 slot. The graphics card that I have is a 1gb zotac 9800gt PCI express 2.0x16 that is compatible with 1.1. So I understand that it is too new to work with the computer I currently have. But I am getting a used dell optiplex 755 large case from a friend. It currently has an ATI radeon 2400 HD with 128mb of ram. I am just wondering if I can put my zotac graphics card into the dell optiplex 755 and have it work. Is the dell optiplex PCI express slot 1.1/2.0? Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The x16 slot has plenty of bandwidth for everything but the very highest cards. And according to this... http://www.dell.com/us/dfb/p/optiplex-755/pd

It has 1 PCI and 1 PCI x16 slot, which would work with your card.

Thanks. That helps. I'll be getting the computer next week. I will let you know how it works!
