FSX 2010 crashes after selecting most menu functions, even with the known uiautomationcore.dll fix. Event log shows atiumdag.dll as the culprit. I have deleted and re-installed the video driver 3 times, with a registry cleaning in between installations.

After a little more searching I ended up just adding this file to my windows directory and it solved the issue. What a pain

Chickenhawk1,
I cannot see the file you added solving this crash problem. Can you please advise?
Thanks and Happy New Year

Interesting to see someone else having this problem, and only 20 minutes ago. I have been googling all day trying to figure out what problem I am having. My FSX usually crashes when I open the menu, especially when browsing air traffic. I have found out that the uiautomationcore.dll file could be causing the problem but I can't find any event log to figure out if that is my problem. For you Chickenhawk1, I think he added that file to his windows directory. ("C:\Windows\System32"). I have that file in the right place and in the FSX directory and I am still having the same problem. If anyone knows how I can find the event log to see what the heck is happening it would be great if you could show me.

I think I got it somewhat contained...still testing.
what I did:
replace uiautomationcore.dll in the system32 and syswow64 directory on drive c: and x: (Windows recovery drive) with a copy I took from my Win 7/64 PC.
roll back my nVidia driver from 331.82 to version 327.

We got the impression that this driver is smoother, less lag, and so far it's much harder to crash the system.

I keep on testing.
