What GPU chipset should I get for this build?

I want to be able to game with Ultra Graphics on a 2560x1440 display at least most of the time. (I would prefer all of the time) with games like Crysis 3 and Skyrim and Battlefield 3 and possibly Metro:Last Light. I honestly don't know much about how to pick a graphics card with all of the letters and numbers everywhere. I know generally the higher the number the better, but please help me pick the right one. My specs will be below, and I am willing to spend upwards of $700 on the GPU. Also if there are any parts on that list I should change for the better, let me know! This is my first gaming rig and I am a novice.. Also, Nvidia or AMD? Which is better?

To save some cash, I would recommend switching to the 3570K, as you wouldnt see any performance difference.

But, seeing as you are willing to spend $700 on a GPU, this seems like petty money savings.

It is 850w. So the GTX 780 could run Ultra on 1440?

I could probably still do that, as then I could spend more on my GPU. How much savings would that be? And how far could I safely OC that 3570k?

It would be $100, and I'm not sure how far you would be able to clock it. Past 4, maybe close to 4.5

Alright, well $100 is $100. And I will probably just go with that then. What GPU would you recommend? AxlFone said the GTX 780 or AMD R9-290X? Would you agree or go a different rout? I want to be able to play Witcher 3 also on Ultra when it comes out, and Crysis 3 like I mentioned.

I would wait for the R9-290X comes out, and see how that measures up (or passes) the GTX780.
