Can I load Windows 8 64-bit onto a DELL XPS DXP051 PC?

If the system is equipped with a Pentium D processor and at least 2GB of RAM (only 1GB needed for 32 bit), you should be safe to install Windows 8. Pentium D processors support PAE, NX, and SSE2 which are requirements for Windows 8. Not all Pentium 4 processors support NX, as such if you have a Pentium 4 equipped system you may need to use the Sysinternals CoreInfo utility to determine support for Windows 8.

The Sigmatel C-Major HD Audio chipset should work with default drivers. You can install the latest chipset software from Intel found here for download. The networking is provided by an Intel adapter for which the software can be found here.

Thanks Outreach. I have Pentium D. I'll download the chipset software from Intel If I encounter problems.

1 GB is needed for 32 bit but I suggest you use 2 GB for it,or some people face slow performance.
