I just got done building computer this weekend.
Installation went little bit longer than I thought but smooth. System started and working fine so far.
Here is what I have in the rig:
I-5 3570 k
Carbide corsair 550 R
Saphire vapor-X radeon HD 7950
Asus P 8 Z77
G skill sniper 4GBx 2
Samsung 840 Pro 256GB ssd
WD 2 TB red HDD
Windows 7 64 bit
cooler master 212 puls
Corsair HX 750
samsung DVD burner with SATA

So far only the SSD is connected ( I ran out of SATA cables so HDD is not connected yet.) , So when I get new SATA connector what do I do next?
After Windows installation I downloaded only drivers from ASUS MOBO CD because I read somewhere that ASUS CD programs are buggy. Do I need to download utilities? Since I did not down load utilities does my system has BIOS? I think I just got done with easy part . I am not very computer literate and I want to keep it very simple.
Thank you

Connect the HDD (power supply turned off) and initialize it in Disk management (google for how to).
Use SATA 3 cable (motherboards usually come with SATA cables).
Install only drivers. Keep it simple, until learning.
The BIOS is a chip on the motherboard.
