AMD FX6300 at 4.5Ghz questioning

I am currently running my FX 6300 at 4.5Ghz, however I've been looking around at voltages and such and I'm a bit confused. Most websites suggest i run it at 1.40-1.42v but when i set those voltages in the bios, it seems that during stress testing on prime95 it boosts the voltage up to like around 1.43-1.44v instead.

So my question is should i set the voltage at 1.38 etc... in the bios so it boosts it to 1.40 when under full load, or shall i set the voltage to 1.40v in the bios so it's boosted to 1.42v?

Thanks for your help
Callan.

Turn the vcore offset in your BIOS off (may be called manual mode), and test it at 1.40 then try 1.41, 1.42, 1.43, 1.44 until your machine is stable.

Offset mode will allow your MB to adjust vcore to compensate for high usage. By turning it off you can regulate the voltage to be only what you set the voltage at in the BIOS.

Thanks for the info, i ran it at 1.40v and it seemed stable...

However i did get a max temp of 64 c, is this safe or should i decrease the overclock?

You need to get a better cooler, what CPU cooler are you using?

EDIT: Your temp is too high, you do need to get it cooler, however, that may be quickly solvable depending on what cooler you are currently using.
