looking for a cord/converter (not sure what i need) to go from hdmi (from the 360) to the monitor(dual link dvi-d) so i can utilize the 144hz refresh rate the monitor is capable of . i understand hdmi is only capable of 60 hz unless u have a cable or converter.

again, the ports are hdmi from the 360 and dual link dvi-d from for the monitor. ty.

^ Implying that an Xbox360 can even run at 60 FPS in all but indie games and COD :p

I wouldnt worry about it, your Xbox really cant take advantage of your monitors high refresh rate. It also wouldn't be able to take advantage of its 1080p resolution.
That, and if HDMI cant handle 120hz, why would converting it too DVI help? In the process of the conversion you cant magic more bandwidth out of the connection.

Haha, well there are apparently a few 360 games that are natively 1080p, like Fifa Street 3 and Virtua Tennis 3. :p

Also, ddelehanty, the part I bolded of manofchalk's post is important.

what about hdmi 1.4b, it can support 120hz

The 360 doesn't support HDMI 1.4, even if it did, the operating system and games wouldn't let you use 144Hz.

While HDMI 1.4b can support 120hz, I've never seen a device that supports HDMI 1.4b, and the Xbox 360 is no exception.
