I would go with the Windforce, it's got a better cooler, which will not only run cooler but also give you more headroom for GPU Boost 2.0 which is directly dependent on temperature. Also, 4GB isn't necessary unless you're running a multi-monitor setup or higher than 1080p resolutions.

thanks. i am only using one monitor at the moment max resolution 1080 however i I am looking to add more in the new year. I've been told to get 4gb as games will soon need 3gb

is a 770 worth the price difference over the 760?

That really depends on the exact games you play. The gap between the two cards will be different at times, but the cost difference is obviously going to remain constant. The 760 is definitely a better bang for the buck though. Although I would still recommend the 770 because in my opinion it's worth the extra cost. But on the other hand, the AMD R9 280X is around $300, and trades blows with the 770 in many games.

I mainly play battlefield 3 and 4 when it comes out.

Then you may want to consider getting a 280X. BF4 is going to get Mantle support in December, which could be quite a performance boost if you have an AMD card. I'd wait until I see actual results though.
