can i use a 4gb and a 2gb ram stick at same time?

Just wanted to know what happens if i use a 4gb and a 2gb ram sticks on my sony vaio 64bit windows 7 home prem laptop at the same time ?

Absolutely, there's no problem with this at all, in fact, OEM's do this all the time with laptops/desktops that come with 6GB of memory.

Thank you, i was told that if i do this that it would only run on the smallest one, so i would only end up using 2gb of ram.

not true, it's been possible to run different size sticks for a long time.
