Hi,

Bought an HP-Envy 700-060ea Desktop - this has a 1.5gb GTX660 OEM Card inside, the Nvidia site says it's SLI capable, but I'm not sure on whether this means any GTX660 can be SLI'd with it, or whether the performance increase would be worth it?

Also - I'm guessing it would, but would this mean a PSU upgrade as well? and would I actually get better bang for buck just putting a single Evga Nvidia Gtx 660 Sc Signature 2 Edition 3GB Card in instead?

What's the power supply on it?

SLI gains are actually pretty high for the midrange nVidia cards like the 660, but if your PSU power is low, you'll definitely need to upgrade that as well.

You'll definitely have to go up in power to add a second 660. the 660 has a TDP of 140W, so two of those is 280W on its own. That leaves less than half the PSU available for everything else, and puts you in a scenario to potentially burn out your PSU.

The OEM 660 is a different animal and cannot be SLi'd with either a 660 non Ti or a 660Ti. It is the card that the GTX760 is based on but it won't SLi with one of them.

Chances are your mother board in your HP pc isnt SLI compatible.

I would not upgrade to a 3Gb 660, that would be pointless and no noticeable difference in performance.

From a 660, I wouldnt bother upgrading unless its to a 680/770, and you would need a better PSU.
