Emachines e640 which is showing wifi on but it's not connected to the Internet.

Hi I have an emachines e640 which is saying that wifi is on but it's not connected to the Internet and won't connect. The computer is saying that everything is fine. There is no slide clip on the laptop and I've done the windows key and fn3. Please help I'm desperate!!!

So, you're showing that you have a signal connection to your router in the taskbar, but when you look it shows no internet connection. If that is the case, it could be a few things. It could have to do with your router connecting to your internet service, you could have something configured incorrectly, or it may need to be reset.

I would start by right clicking on the "signal bars" in your taskbar to open network and sharing center. From there, select the troubleshoot problems and let Windows do its thing. If it's a simple reset needed that should take care of it. If not, you may want to test the router by hardwiring your PC into it to ensure that the router itself is connected to the internet.
