help with crysis 1 on the pc

i just got crysis on steam for $5 and i really want to play it but when i click on "play" the screen just goes dark. i check in the task tab and seems like the problem is dx10 is not responding. the actual error is "dx10 march 11 2008 not responding" can someone please help. i have windows 7 home premium 64 with a gigabyte 7950 if that matters. thanks!

Windows 7 is DirectX 11, but that shouldn't an issue. May be an installation glitch. One of the reasons I don't do digital downloads.

Crysis 1 has some issues with 64-bit versions of Windows.Try launching the 64-bit executable in the Bin64 folder in your game's installation directory.Although,programs to monitor temps and usage - their overlays may/may not work.Also,do not update your game to the latest patch.Patch till only v1.2,not to v1.2.1 ,though I think that's possible only in the retail version,which I have.Hope this helps.

GO to Megagames.com , DOWNLOAD CRYSIS 1.0 FIX . extract the fix somewhere . copy the 32bit folder content in your CRYSIS 1 32BIT FOLDER . replace the files & YOUR DONE . game will RUN just fine
