How can I prevent that? I know it has some bad blocks, but I don't care about "loss of data" as long as it doesn't shutdown on my face.. lol I think there might be some "feature" in its firmware which is shutting it down when it can't read too many sectors at once or in some period of time, I don't know..

I KNOW it's being turned OFF because even in BIOS it ceases to exists. And it won't happen as long as I don't try to copy/move files from/to it..

ps.: ST31000520AS on GA-970A-D3 with Win8x64

What is a "bad drive"? What is "behave"? HDDs aren't humans, I don't think it's smart to humanize things.
HDDs are pieces of hardware with a programmed code to make it do things. If it is disabling itself, it's because it was programmed to do so, and obviously one can reprogram that or circumvent that action somehow.
