Hi,
I am building a desktop computer, and the spec seems good in my view, but the only concern is the graphic card. I am not sure if it is good enough for doing a little video editing and After Effects.

Here is the spec:
- Intel Core i7 4770
- Gigabyte Z87-HD3
- 8GB Corsair 1600mhz Vengeance
- 1TB S-ATAIII 6.0Gb/s
- Plextor 128GB M5S SSD
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 1GB

I am not going to do very professional video editing, as I am new in this field. Just looking for a normal machine.

Yeah a 650 would be a good option for sure, I believe After Effects can make use of CUDA, so Nvidia is probably the way to go. If you see yourself rendering more advanced things in the future though, I would conider getting this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814500270

That way you have another GB of Vram and a larger memory bus for not too much more, which would perform quicker than a GTX 650 in more graphically intensive rendering situations. Either way, I doubt you'd see a huge difference between the two, and if a 650 is in your budget, I'd just get that.

Just get the GTX 660 . EVGA or MSI TF, not the reference nvidia ver.
GTX 660 is good ENOUGH for anything.
Not so sure w/ gtx 650 @ 1gb.

Also look into getting an SSD and install the OS there and even programs.
Everything will run a LOT faster.

Thank you for your help. Based on your post and my own research I guess 650 is good enough for a starter.

Thanks for your post. Yeah 660 seems really good but out of my budget for now. Maybe I upgrade to it later.
