So is the 760 worth the extra 40?

well the difference is 2-10 fps or even more on some games . its up to you bro . both are very powerful .

here is a review of both .

http://www.game-debate.com/gpu/index.php?gid=1863&gid2=882&compare=radeon-r9-270x-vs-geforce-gtx-760

& a little benchmark

http://elchapuzasinformatico.com/2013/10/radeon-r9-270x-vs-radeon-hd-7870-vs-geforce-gtx-760/

GTX 760 is 7% faster

if i were you i would grab the GTX 760 . just to be little more relaxed & future proof :D

& IMO yes it Worth's the EXTRA 40 . because gain is noticeable in some games . you wont regret it for sure ;)

Ok, thanks. And also I was thinking to just grab the 280x and not have to upgrade for a while.

I would go for the 7950 and overclock it. Stomps on the 760 and can easily get to 280x speeds. I know cause i owned one. Cheap as hell too.

WHy get something & overclock it to make it perform like something else :D ? overclocking is risky & reduces life span & ... & ...

he better go with Single Strong GPU working at stock . 280x , 7950 & GTX 760 are GR8 for current games. they really dont need to be overclocked ! if i were to overclock something i would just buy the more powerful card & save my self from trouble .

sry bro , that was just my personal idea & i respect your Opinion ;)

I respect your opinion also but the facts are the facts. The cheapest GTX 760 I could find was on newegg for $250. The cheapest HD 7950 I could find was the XFX HD 7950 Core Edition on NCIX for $220 (-$30 mail-in rebate):

Additionally, you don't have to OC a Radeon HD 7950 to make it outperform the GTX 760, I don't know where anyone got that idea. In fact, it is showing better numbers in Battlefield 4 than the GTX 760 just as it is. Here's the proof:
http--www.gamegpu.ru-images-stories-Test_GPU-Action-Battlefield_4_Beta-test-bf_4_1920.jpg

Now they are more or less neck-and-neck but $30 before rebate and especially $60 after rebate is a pretty good chunk of change. If the GTX 760 is $60 more, it should be handily out-performing the HD 7950 and as we can see, that just isn't the case, in fact, it is losing to the HD 7950. That definitely makes the HD 7950 the better buy.

So what should I buy for my type of gaming, I want to play bf4 on ultra on 1080p and do not want to worry about upgrading in a long time, what would be the best, the r9 270x or the r9 280x?

R9 280x for sure . its faster than GTX 760 , 7950 , & even 7970 !

280x will keep you satisfied for LOoNG time . all the other cards ( that i have mentioned up here ) would do either . but you wanna be more future proof & relaxed . so your best option is 280x ;)

no need to OC . that card Will ROCK @ STOCK !

UPDATE : some times GTX 760 is faster than 280x . thats why i say they ALL ARE Powerful & you will be fine with each of them . some games are AMD optimized ( amd cards will do better in that game ) & some Are Nvidia optimized ( nvidia will do better ) !

thats why the same card is faster in one game & slower in other game !

so your options are following : GTX 760 , GTX 670 , 7950 , 7970 , 280x & even GTX 770 if you can pay for that too !

remember . they all will rock ;) ! i personaly have GTX 760 . its just WOW !

Because overclocking a 7950 makes it perform like a 7970 ghz edition.

And yes, in order to max out some games you need to overclock.

Overclocking is risky only if you go in blind and dumb, do research beforehand.

It is free performance when done right with no risk.

THEN GO FOR SINGLE STRONG GPU . you will be able to max out anygame with HIGH Playable FPS . till games runs at 60 fps . you wont feel the difference between 60-90FPS !

All those Vga cards i mentioned can do that Magic for you ! can make you enjoy your wanted game at GR8 QUALITY & performance . Crossfire or SLi is not supported by all games . not all games are optimized to go with Crossfire !

BUT single strong gpu is something that all Games are OKwith :)
