Hi.
Just want to say thank you to toms hardware.
I looked up a several tips and examples to get me through my first build and it was extremely helpful and confidence boosting. I had no one to help other than toms hardware and a couple Magazines off the shelf.
The most I've done is installed an optical drive and ram on occasion over the years..along with countless OS clean reinstalls since the days when 128mb of RAM was "a lot", I never thought it possible to actually build a computer from the ground up without messing it up royally.
In about 5 hours...I just finished the following build that worked on first boot of windows 8 after closing the case....well I opened again to clean up my cable management.:)
I'm not sure I got the best prices..but tried to build a little cheaper with an upgrade path to a faster CPU, faster GPU, bigger SSD and more RAM in 3-4 years.
Here's the build....all priced Canadian dollars purchased in Canada.

Glad everything worked out for you! It gets easy when you have done it a few times and you pretty much always end up with a better system than if you bought a prebuilt computer. Not to mention you get the satisfaction of doing it yourself! :)

Very glad you got a build that works for you. And, on behalf of Tom's Hardware - you're very welcome. :)
