Installing New Operating System

Hi, Im building my first computer in a month or so and have run across some problems regarding my OS. I got Windows 7 Pro and Office 2013 for free through school, (FCPS), but the license to use the activation code and download the software ends in 15 days, well before I will have my computer put together. It looks like the download is meant to replace an existing operating system, not download onto a completely new (blank ssd) computer, because there is no disk, only an online download. What would be the best way to save/download the software so that I could use it in a month or two and download it onto my new computer? Also would Windows 8 be a better option for my uses (gaming- bf4, arma 3, flight simulators, internet)?
