Hi all my Windows 7 mucked up on me today and I'm basically looking to reinstall Win 7 onto my computer. I currently have two hard drives, one is a 1tb HD and the other is 500gb. Originally the 1tb was for storage and the 500gb was the one with windows 7 on and is the one I would boot. I've plugged in my 1tb hard drive to my partners computer and dragged over a Window 7 iso image, I've plugged the 1tb hard drive back into my computer, started it up, but it says to insert a bootable device? I even took the contents out of the image and simply placed them onto the HD but nothing is working. Is this even possible or MUST it be a disc or a flash drive?

You can't install Windows 7 that way. The ISO file must be written to a blank DVD using burning software that's capable of burning files to a disc from an ISO image file (eg Nero Burning ROM or use the Windows 7 built-in Disc Image Burner: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows7/burn-a-cd-o... ).

If the ISO image contains boot code (Windows ISO files usually do), the DVD will be bootable when burning is finished.

Then you must boot your PC from that DVD to install Windows.
