I did a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit on a Dell DXP051 series. The computer now hangs on the Dell screen until I enter setup. In setup / boot sequence, all bootable devices are listed as "not present". I can work around this problem by changing any setting in Setup, changing it back and then saving and exiting setup. Window will then run and I can see the hard disk as HDS728080PLA380 ATA Deivce in Hardware Resources.

Ive never owned a dell before but usually you can go to setup to remove the dell boot screen logo. You may have to search through the setup interface for this option. Save and exit and it should now show you any error messages that are shown in the background that can help troubleshoot the problem.

jbseven, I'll give that a try. Another thing I've found is that the problem only occurs when I restart. When I shutdown and then turn on the PC, Windows comes up normally.
