Upgrade Help: Gtx 590 to Gtx 780 (On a 120Hz monitor)

Any ideas on this upgrade? Is it worth it? (Mainly for BF4) With Gtx 590 Beta is unplayable even at high settings there is stuttering and fps is really low.

Thanks in advance!

  1. Hi. I'm not sure of what you are referring to when you say "Beta". If is the Drivers, I never run those things anyway and if you are, they can be rolled back to the last WHQL version. Other than that, going from the GTX 590 to the GTX 780 is a step up.
  2. With beta i mean Battlefield 4 ''Beta'' :) Should i upgrade my GPU to Asus GTX 780 DirectCU II OC? Or wait for the 800 series? Thank you for your answer.
  3. Oh, ok. It is a step up going from the 590 to the 780 as long as your PSU can handle it. I have heard quite a bit on the Stuttering, and it may be an optimization issue with the game.
  4. I have a 700W PSU and I'm pretty sure it can handle it. Stutter is mostly gone by disabling multi-GPU mode. Actually I'm getting a better performance without using multi-GPU at the moment. Seems really strange to me...

Is my mainboard compatible with GTX780 (It is a Gigabyte Z68AP-D3 rev 1.0 )

    Thank you.
  5. The Motherboard should handle it. With the Z68 Chipset, it is probably PCIe x16 2.0, but that isn't that big of an issue for the most part as the card is backwards compatible.
  6. Thank you for your answers. Last question: Do you think I should wait for the 800 series? Or just buy the 780 and sli it later?
  7. Just get the 780. Heck, I am still running a GTX 680 and it is doing fine. :D
  8. OK man thank you so much for your help :) I'll get the 780.
