AMD 640 quad x4 3.0 gigahertz processor
5 Gigs ddr3 ram
750 gig HHD
600 watt corsair GS600 series psu

Well, my gtx 460 finally died on me after about 2 and a half years, so I am now looking to upgrade.

I know that ati radeon hd 7850 requires a 500 watt psu minimum, but... my psu is 80% efficiency, so my psu only outputs about 480 watts or power, isn't that right, or am I a little off?

Also, my computer came with a 250 watt psu. If a 250 watt psu was enough to power my whole computer, wouldn't even a 500 watt psu be overkill? Or do you think I need a new psu?

The ati radeon uses only about 130 watts on FULL LOAD.( from what i red online.

Also, if the 7850 hd consumes signifiantly less powet and less heat than the gtx 460, then why does amd specify a 500 watt psu as a minimum?

Do NOT panic my friend :D

Your 600watt PSU is absolutely fine to power your gpu... I'm running 2-way SLI GTX 660 Ti on my rig with no problem on a 700watt Psu 80+ bronze..

And an advice for you, "your RAM is not in stable position"... means you should either have 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, 16GB or 32GB.. not 5GB... it will effect your system stability..

I never thought about that( the unstable ram) That is what my computer came with, so I did not ever think of that.
