Any good i5's under 140?

Hi, I'm needing a new motherboard and CPU. I was wondering if there are any worthwhile i5 CPU's under 140. Can be sandy bridge, ivy bridge, haswell. Also any motherboard recommendations for under 60 or 70 with sata 3 and USB 3.

I know you want an I5 but I highly recommend getting the AMD FX-6000 series. They will give you what you want for a price around that.

Yeah well I do was going for a 6300 but my dad wanted me to get an Intel for the lower power consumption :/

Well, I couldn't find any I5's for under 140 but I did find a decently performing I3 for 139. Even Haswell.

Yeah well I do was going for a 6300 but my dad wanted me to get an Intel for the lower power consumption :/

If this system is going to be running 24/7 at load, then power consumption will possibly matter. If it is going to be sitting idle or shut off when not in use, power consumption between the two doesn't really affect anything. I did the power consumption thing back in the core 2 days. I went from a very hot X3210 Kentsfield quad to a Wolfdale E8190. I saw 0 benefit on my power bill. At idle, an FX 6350 uses a mere 17w more than a 3570k. The difference in gaming is a higher 75w, but really how many hours in the day are you going to spend gaming? If you absolutely must have an i5, your best option is probably Ebay.

Nope. You could possibly get a locked bottom tier i5 from Microcenter, but thats a hit or miss thing.

Its fine for me now as my dad is letting me get the 6300 so I'll be fine I reckon. Thanks for the help
