Hi,

Newbie here, so please forgive the ignorance if this seems a daft question.
I'm trying to run 8 x Akasa AK-161BL-S fans from a single controller.
I think it works out by:
Voltage x current = Wattage, so
12v x 0.07a x 8 fans would give me the total watts the fans use which = 6.72 watts
I used an 8 watt controller and it beeped.
Yet it all runs ok.
The system is a quad core 8300 + 300watt psu, used as its a tight fit in the case.

Im using a NZXT Grid 10 Port Fan Hub to connect the fans together then this to the controller.

Have I got this wrong?

Thanks,

Missed

You're correct about OHM's Law (P=I*E) as it applies to DC with resistive loads. The amp rating on the fans is normal operating current. Starting current is several times higher for an instant. I have no idea why the NZXT Grid 10 Port Fan Hub is beeping. It is rated at 30W.

HI,

Its not the NZXT that's beeping, its the fan controller, that's a single controller that's 8watt rated, ive stepped it down to 6 fand so it should be well under the 8watt, but it was even beeping with one on and ive run it for a few hours and the controllers isn't overheating.

I disabled the beep and it seems to run ok, just wanted to be sure it wouldn't catch light on me.
