I have an i7 930 processor and I would like to get more out of it than the stock 2.8ghz that it is running at right now. I am completely new to overclocking and this forum so my apologies ahead of time. Here is some info about my build.. if you need more just respond saying so. I think I am looking to get at least 3.5ghz out of this processor? Maybe a little more.

My core temp is an average of 35 degrees Celsius. All my parts run about that temperature for average temp and I have liquid cooling.

Your board has the X58 chip so it would be a good overclocker, if you need an overclock tutorial i could most likely find one for that bios.

You have everything you need from the looks of it.

This is an overclock someone did on the same motherboard you own and they got it up to 4.3ghz @ 1.3V.

Temp wise you might get there but remember always overclock a small amount at a time to keep things safe.

This tutorial is for the i7 920 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPyHVGmyjQo but it will still work. Theyre the same CPU just factory overclocked.

As far as clock speed you're going to try and aim for 3.3Ghz or 3.5Ghz the first time around. So follow everything but on CPU Ratio keep it at 21 and change your BCLK frequency to 165 so then you'll be overclocked to 3.4 Ghz Which is a good place to start.

I follow literally everything on this video? What about like DRAM frequency stuff, don't we have different memory and does that affect this guide? and is this all I have to do to overclock? just change to all these values in BIOS?

There's certain settings that for your overclock specifically, you won't need to change. For example the dram timings and dram voltage will be left on auto. If you'd like i could make a quick list of the settings you need to adjust.

Go to AI Tweaker:

AI Overclock Tuner: [Manual]
CPU Ratio Setting: [21.0]
Intel SpeedStep Tech: [Disabled
Xtreme Phase Power: [Enabled]
BCLK Frequency: [165]

Now scroll down to Voltage.

CPU Voltage Control [Manual]
CPU Voltage [1.200]

Now scroll down further

CPU Spread Spectrum: [Disabled]
PCIE Spread Spectrum: [Disabled]

This will take you from 2.8Ghz to 3.5Ghz. You don't want to go all the way to 4 yet. You have to work your way up so there's no instability.

Something every Overclocker should know, If anything goes wrong or your computer wont boot because of an overclock. Take out the CMOS battery on the motherboard for about 10 minutes, then put it back in and start the computer. This resets all settings back to default and everything will work fine after.
