Laptop stop starting up

A Gateway laptop( NE56r10u) I am working on all of the sudden stopped starting up. It was being used to download videos off youtube and may have gotten a virus. When I insert the Windows 7 disk, it says "No hard drives detected", and won't let me re-install the operating system. Any idea how to fix this? I'm stumped.

Not sure this will help but you can try removing the battery, remove the hard drive and then reinstall it double checking the connection. Replace the battery after you have reinstalled the battery and try booting it up.
