Hi all! My first post here and also my first build. I've been doing a lot of research and I believe I found everything I want/need. I am at a $2000 dollar budget but am willing to bump it up a bit if needed. I will be using this computer for gaming, sound editing, video editing, animation, and rendering.

Keep in mind I am Canadian, and use newegg.ca for my pricing, not .com.

Okay. Here we go.

MOTHERBOARD
ECS Z77H2-A3(1.2) LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
I wanted a low price but quality motherboard, this one caught my eye and so far looks good to me, It uses the chipset I want to use (Z77) and it also has the 1155 socket for my Intel processor.
$109.99 + $12.09 shipping = $122.05 CDN

PROCESSOR
Intel Core i7-3770K Ivy Bridge 3.5GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 4000 BX80637I73770K
This is the processor that really seems to be a perfect fit. This has the same chipset and socket type as the motherboard so unless there are any other factors I don't know about then I think it should work.
$339.99 + $7.60 shipping = $347.59 CDN

CPU FAN
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan
This has great reviews and is compatible with my processor, so please correct me if there is a better alternative.
$39.99 + $7.86 shipping = $47.85 CDN

GRAPHICS CARD
SAPPHIRE Vapor-X 100351VXSR Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition 3GB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
This graphics card seems to be a good pick. I want the best graphics with no lag, and from the benchmarks it looks like it could do the trick. I'd rather not bump it up any more than I already have as it is already my most expensive part, but if it's a must, then I gladly will.
$399.99 + $8.99 shipping = $408.98 CDN

RAM
G.SKILL Trident X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2400 (PC3 19200) Desktop Memory Model F3-2400C10D-16GTX
I know 8GB is good enough for gaming computers, but I decided to bump it up to 16GB for video rendering purposes and such. These are compatible with my motherboard I believe, but if I'm wrong please correct me.
$174.99 + $6.99 shipping =$181.98 CDN

HDD
Seagate NAS HDD ST2000VN000 2TB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive
The best rating for 2TB. Don't know if this is compatible with the motherboard, but unless I'm uninformed I don't think the hard drive type matters for the motherboard.
$134.99 + $4.99 shipping = $139.98 CDN

SSD
Corsair Force Series GS CSSD-F128GBGS-BK 2.5" 128GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Just for boot-up and a few other select files. Do I need more room?
$126.99 + $7.34 shipping = $134.33 CDN

BLU-RAY BURNER
LG Black 14X BD-R 2X BD-RE 16X DVD+R 5X DVD-RAM 12X BD-ROM 4MB Cache SATA BDXL Blu-ray Burner, Bare Drive, 3D Play Back (WH14NS40) - OEM
Probably watching Blu-ray on this PC and thought, "Why not get a burner so I can write on it too?" Not sure if there are disadvantages to this.
$70.99 + $7.60 shipping = $78.59 CDN

POWER SUPPLY
NZXT HALE82 V2 700W 700W ATX 12V V2.31 & EPS 12V V2.92 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply (Haswell Support)
Is 700W good for this build? I tried multiple calculators and this was the max I was given. I don't know if voltage matters for building a PC so I could use help help in this area.
$105.99 + $8.60 shipping = $114.59 CDN

CASE
NZXT Phantom PHAN-001WT White Steel / Plastic Enthusiast ATX Full Tower Computer Case
I chose this case because it fits everything I want and in my opinion looks pretty awesome. Not sure if everything will fit though, or if there are problems.
$129.99 + $19.99 shipping = $149.98 CDN

OS
Windows 8 System Builder DVD 64-Bit
I didn't include the OS with the hardware budget of 2000 dollars, but I decided to put it in here anyways to see if there would be any compatibility issues. Please don't kill me, I know I chose Windows 8. Windows 7 is more expensive and I have been using 8 on my laptop for almost a year now and actually like it.
$126.35 + free shipping = $126.35 CAN (separate from $2000 budget)

ALSO:

WIRELESS ADAPTER
Rosewill RNX-N150UBE Wireless Adapter (1T1R) IEEE 802.11b/g, IEEE 802.11n Draft 2.0 USB 2.0 Up to 150Mbps Wireless Data Rates 64/128-bit WEP (Hex & ASCII), WPA/WPA2, WPA(TKIP with IEEE 802.1x)/WPA2(AES with IEEE 802.1x) XP/ Vista/ Win7
The fact that I may not be using ethernet for a while made me come to the conclusion that this is helpful. If there is any other inexpensive but good solution I will gladly take it.
$14.99 + $3.99 shipping = $18.98 CDN

In total with taxes in (x 1.13) the price of this build is...
$1,996.43 CDN

Thank you for reading this over, let me know if any changes need to be made, all opinions are welcome :)

Yes, all is fine. Although please think long and hard about going to Win8. Some folks can live with it, some folks hate it. I'm in the latter category, because I don't like my gaming OS to look and work like my phone.

Thanks very much. I know what you mean by Windows 8 being more like a device and less like a PC. I do use a traditional start menu mod to use the windows 7 start screen. So really, I just want to use Windows 8 because it is less expensive and I'm already used to it on my laptop. But I am aware of some compatibility issues with some programs. Thank you!

I upgraded your CPU to a Haswell CPU. That will give you a lot more speed.

There is no way you will every use memory with that clock speed to it's fullest potential plus it's 1.65V (Intel CPUs only use up to 1.5V, otherwise the warranty is void). I replaced the memory with a more reasonable clock speed, lower CAS, and same size.

With the money I saved I gave you a better graphics card and larger SSD.

I got you a more reliable PSU with a higher wattage for a lesser price.

With the optical drive you can just go with the cheapest so I gave you a cheap Blu-ray writer.

Yes that card will be fine.

As far as the PSU, the actual wattage of the build will be about 650w giving you a good amount of breathing room. If you plan to CrossFire (which I don't think you'll need with a card that good) then you will need a 1,000w+ PSU (in which case Antec High Signature Pro(?) is a good PSU).
