Hi guys

Just wanted to ask for some feedback.

I plan on building a PC used mainly for Linux development, but sometimes it should also act as gaming PC for Windows (for things like CoD4, CivV and the like, maybe GTA V in the future if it plays).

I plan the following setup:
Cooler Master Centurion Silencio 550
Seasonic X Series 650
Gigabyte H87-HD3
Intel Core i5-4570S
Kingston 8GB DDR3 1600MHz CL10 HyperX blu Edition
Western Digital Red 2000GB 64MB cache

Does that go well together? Would you see that fit for my purpose?

Silencio + X-650 should be silent, I chose the 4570S for the same reason (less power, usually don't need much CPU, if needed for gaming it goes as high as the 4570).

I'm planning on adding a NVIDIA graphics card in the future (I guess the games need that, but I have no time for that anyways), will probably have 2GB and in the 120USD-150USD price range.

I'd appreciate any feedback.

Thank you.

Regards, rex

Take K cpu or Xeon 1230V3 Xeon is much cooler working cpu so it is easy to build silent pc. But it do not have iGPU so you need videocard.

GT 650Ti boost 2GB is good. 7950 or GTX 760 nut they are too expensive.. Maybe 77XX is good?

This is good silent cpu cooler. http://www.amazon.com/Thermalright-BW-Support-Socket-Driver/dp/B008YTUN38

Maybe build like this?

Fractal R4 is good silent case. so.. :)

Corsair new RM is silent psu. Fan do not ot spin under 40% load. So that can be good option too.

Or lotbetter gpu with 4GB GTX 760

Thanks for your response!

They cost quite a bit more. I planned to get started with iGPU to buy graphics card later, was just not sure about the 'S'. Don't think I need K CPU for the dev tasks (the Xeon is interesting here though), and the add price I think doesn't justify for me when gaming occasionally.

Thanks, will look at these once the time comes.

I buy the Intel boxed, does it not contain a CPU cooler?

My build is currently at 850 USD. With graphics card it should be at max. 1k USD. It's none of my selected things in and a bit higher, but some interesting upgrades (incl. SSD). Will check these sites.

Yeah that was my alternative, but I like the design of the Silencio more. I know it has a bit worse thermal behavior than R4, but I'm not planning on excessively heating it, so I hope I am ok. Although I still wonder about the R4, since the price is identical for me.

Interesting. Price wise the RM850 has the same budget than my chosen X-650. I guess that means I can run it higher with fan, right, having 200W more?

Way out of budget, but thx :)

Yes. All intel comes with cooler. Tray do not have cooler or WoF they do not have cooler (like 2011 cpus) Good cpu cooler means more silent build and better OC Xeon is nice cpu because it takes less wattage and still it do have HT + 8Treads. It is as fast as the 35670k OC to 4.5GHz.
Xeon 1230V3 is even better but usa price is too much IMO. So good buy for you is older 1230V2 because it is same price as the 3570k

And if you buy K cpu you can undervoltage it to match S cpu ;)
