Straight to point I am looking to upgrade my Motherboard, CPU and GPU, hoping to increase overall PC(desktop) performance and stability.

My current hardware:
Motherboard - GA-P55A-UD4P http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3435#sp
(I was originally planning on upgrading only my CPU and GPU, but this motherboard is LGA1156. Can't do any upgrading with the current hardwares as majority is incompatible.)

CPU - Intel Core i5-750 (8M Cache, 2.66 GHz)http://ark.intel.com/products/42915/Intel-Core-i5-750-Processor-8M-Cache-2_66-GHz

GPU - NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX+http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-9800-gtx-plus/specifications
(It's an 2008 Graphics card)

RAM is stable at 8GB. 1333 2 x 4GB

PSU is strong 850W Corsair

Specific problem/reason to upgrading:
I don't exactly know the cause, but sometimes when performing tasks on the PC that especially requires the CPU and GPU to work harder(playing videos, or games) the PC freezes even if it's after minutes of doing other minor tasks on the PC without any problem. This happens randomly and can be fixed by restarting the PC.

Another reason is to simply be able to run games at higher settings(max settings preferred). Specifically MMORPG like Guild Wars 2. No FPS. Tried running few games on max settings like C&C. Gets choppy and freezes the PC in few seconds.

Budget:
No specific line, but not going over too far beyond $1000 USD. I am trying to keep this as a minor upgrade/fix.

My current consideration:
Motherboard - ASUS P8Z77-V PRO LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard $179.99 (This guy supports my 1333 RAM)

CPU - Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz $339.99 OR Intel Core i7-3770K Ivy Bridge 3.5GHz $324.99

GPU - GeForce GTX 780 $649.99

Total: About $1170

GTX 780 is 2.5 to 3 times better and faster than the current 9800 GTX+ that I own according to a performance comparison. http://www.hwcompare.com/14251/geforce-9800-gtx-vs-geforce-gtx-780/

Please give me all suggestions that could make the total price go lower while still being able to run videos, and games at high(max) settings without any flaw.
