my portable hd cannot be found in "my computer"but when I go into disc management it says that it is working ok...

My HD BB07 was working fine and then suddenly I could not access it through 'my computer'. I have done all the things that I have seen suggested but still no joy. when I click on disc management it is telling me that the device is working properly.

Do you mean Device Manager (Disk Management doesn't give you that type of information)?

Look in
Control Panel > Admin Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management
and see if you can locate the ribbon which relates to that drive in the bottom-right panel.
It will have no drive letter and may say "Raw" in the description.

Right-click it and choose "Change Drive Letter & Paths", then click "Add".
Accept the default letter and click 'OK'.

Thanks for getting back to me. My device does not appear in the disk Management screen. It does however show up in device manager. I am wondering if you have any other solutions.
