So hes looking for a TV that's good for PS4 gaming and watching sports and movies in HD.
It also has to be compatible with a home theater system.
He wants it to be top level TV for gaming and watching sports, movies in best quality.
Price range doesn't matter.

I really don't know that much about TV -s, so can anyone help me out here please ? :)

Thanks!

in decending order of brand preference: sony, samsung, lg

if you plan to use it with a pc.... i would suggest either a 60hz only television or one that has a "working" 60hz or game mode. if not you will have issues. there might be issues with ps3/ps4 if the game mode doesnt work as well since they also output at 60hz.

the reason is that while post processing can make motion look smoother (120 or 240hz) it fakes in frames which causes a slight delay which is noticible in games but not while watching tv.

smart-tv is also really not required. its a fact that such tv software doesnt get updated often so while it may be good at first it might not get updated in the future so you may be s.o.l. then. buying a roku xs2, ps3/ps4 or other streaming player to fill this role would be better.

between led and standard ccfl backlighting there really isnt a quality difference. led saves you money on the electric bill and doesnt generate the heat. the tvs are also lighter and thinner. one thing you may want to look for is a tv which arrays the leds behind the screen in a grid. this is zone backlighting and helps to improve contrast .
