I often keep my system running overnight with the monitor turned off. Recently, when i try turning the monitor on in the morning, i can see the display for 2 seconds and then it goes blank. I restart the monitor; again the display is visible for 2 seconds and then goes blank. This repeats until I restart the computer. After system restart, the display is back on without any visible problems and I can use the computer for long hours.

Today the problem worsened. The intermittent display problem persisted even after two or three restarts. The display is okay after the fourth restart.

Can you tell me what's wrong with my system?

May sure the cables are not loose, and make sure the monitor is set to the right source. If that does not work, i'd try to update the video drivers. but to me sounds like the monitor might be on its way out.

Have you tried another monitor? Maybe hook up another monitor then go to bed and see if the monitor turns back on.

I had this problem, it was from my computer not being cooled down enough so the screen turned off then on again until I got the temp under control.
It could explain why it worsened if you are going into hotter weather, and restarting won't help much if the hot air cannot get out.
