I'm on this dilema, buy G3420 and save money for Broadwell next year (I hope), or buy a i5 that costs lot more.
I want the Dual Core to enjoy games like BF3, Bioshock Infinite, Metro LL, Simcity and even BF4. I don't need Ultra High settings.
I don't know if it can handle, I'm searching the internet for answers but ppl don't benchmark core duos that much, the only thing I found was this, in Deutsch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cX_c7Nni9DY .

The Build is something like this:
MOBO: GIGABYTE GA-H87-D3H or MATX one
RAM: 4x2GB 1600mhz HyperX Blu or 2x4GB 1600mhz Corsair Veng. Pro
Video Card: 650 TI Boost

(Note: I'm from Brazil, things here tend to overprice a lot. For example G3420 is about R$260 that is around US$110, i3 4130 is R$400 or US$180-190 and i5 4570 is R$670 or US$300 :( )

the i5 would be over kill for your setup your going to want to get a better gpu rather then a cpu but if you can get a better cpu and gpu then go for it, but if you can't then getting the i5 now would be better then saving up for a better gpu would be a better option.

I was wondering if a G3420 would hold on untill Broadwell comes out, then I'd buy something better, like i5 or even i7
