Hi Folks,
this is my first custom config for a gamer PC. I want a single monitor setup (resolution not larger than full HD), playing with Crysis 3 and such, on above than medium settings. Is this OK for that? Any changes you'd make?

CPU Intel Core i7-4770S 3.1/3.9GHz, 8MB cache
Motherboard ASUS B85M-G (LGA 1150)
RAM DDR3 Kingston 8GB 1600MHz HyperX CL10 Black
HDD SATA-3 1TB TOSHIBA 7200rpm, 32MB cache
SSD Kingston HyperX 3K 120 GB
PCIE ZOTAC GeForce GTX 760 2GB DDR5
House Cooler Master Centurion 610 Black
Power Cooler Master Elite Power 600W

Thanks a lot!!
Marton

It should be fine, you could get a cheaper CPU (such as a 3570) and spend a little more on the GPU, as this will give you beter gaming performance. as is, it shouldn't have any trouble running games at high settings.

Thanks Guys. (And Girls? :) )
Based on your input and some more digging, I have made 3 observations, feel free to disprove them.

1. CPU: i5 and i7 for gaming is not all that different. Most games do not use hyperthreading in i7 anyway. (I use Excel with lots of macros, but I could not find any evidence that Excel 2013 uses hyperthreading.) Should get an i5. Is this a choice I won't regret in lil over 1 year when "Crysis 4" will begin using hyperthreading?

2. GPU: My choice is suboptimal, and R9 280x will blow it out of the water. No drawbacks of having an AMD?

3. My PSU sux. Now considering Corsair VS550 CP-9020050

Btw, right now my config looks like this: (prices are converted from my local currency, I live in Hungary)

CPU Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4/3.8GHz, 4 mag, 6MB cache $283
ASUS B85M-G (LGA 1150) $90
RAM DDR3 Kingston 8GB 1600MHz HyperX CL10 Black $79
GIGABYTE Radeon R9 280X $381
Cooler Master Centurion 610 Black $64
Corsair VS550 CP-9020050 $64
HDD SATA-3 1TB TOSHIBA 7200rpm, 32MB cache $74
SSD Hyperx 120gb $114

TOTAL $1,148

No drawbacks in having an AMD, on the contrary, the upcoming games will be optimized for AMD, with mantle being implemented. As for the PSU, I'd go with anything Seasonic, they make some of the best PSUs. For the Hard Drive, have a look at the Seagate ST2000DM001, as it's almost the same price, and it's a very good HDD. As well as the ST1000DM001, if you want something a bit cheaper. And for the SSD, have a look at the Samsung 840 Evo 120GB.

1) even if crysis 4 starts to use hyperthreading, you will still run it fine. Most games will continue to not use hyperthreading for a few years at least. an i5 ihas much beter performnace for the price.

2) There would be drawbacks if you selected a nvidia card. sometimes you might have to sacrifice a few features (physx) for a good deal. the 280x has great performance at a great price.

3) that power supply should be fine

Thanks!! You've effectively replaced 1/3 of my initial config :)

I really just want a reliable HDD, nothing fancy. I hope Toshiba can provide that. Regarding these 2 SSDs... I've read an interesting article. Will stick to HyperX for now.

https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/62661-kingston-hyperx-3k-ssd-120gb-or-samsung-ssd-840-evo-120gb-oem/

So the end looks like this:
CPU Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4/3.8GHz, 6MB cache $283
ASUS B85M-G (LGA 1150) $90
RAM DDR3 Kingston 8GB 1600MHz HyperX CL10 Black $79
GIGABYTE Radeon R9 280X $381
Cooler Master Centurion 610 Black $64
Seasonic S12II-520 $82
HDD SATA-3 1TB TOSHIBA 7200rpm, 32MB cache $74
SSD Hyperx 120gb $114

TOTAL $1,166

If you are in town, I owe you guys a beer :)

After looking a bit better i noticed that you are using a B85 motherboard with a 4670K which is a overclockable cpu,If you want to overclock choose a Z87 motherboard if not go for the standard 4670 or the 4570 which isn't that much slower and the price can be a nice bit lower.

You are right. I just realized today that the k version is for overclocking. Right now Im leaning against it (too shy, plus it adds like 5-8 fps to already reasonable performance).

So looks like I ll save around 35$ on CPU. And then the motherboard can stay too, I guess.

Thanks :)

What do you think about the ASRock Z87M PRO4 if I decide to go for overclocking? The Extreme you suggested is a bit too expensive for me. Is this OK?

It will do probably oké,but what about the next one?
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/biostar-motherboard-hifiz87w
I don't know much about Biostar so maybe others will say it's crap, but it's worth a look i think.
From what i can see it has a 8+2 or a 10+2phase design which should be good for the overclocking, the asrock has a 4+1/2design,and the rest of the specs seem alright too.

I found this review about something alike, they were quite positive,
