Overclocking against the motherboards wishes

So based on the overclock stuff being greyed out in my bios, I can only assume the board isn't keen on the idea of OCing. Should I take that as a hint, or should I download an app to experiment anyway? Never OC'ed before, so don't know much about this stuff.

Also, what is a good app to OC your graphics card? And would the motherboard restrictions stated above make it so it isn't a good idea to OC my gfx card as well?

DO NOT SOFTWARE OVERCLOCK! It does not work well and can really mess things up. I wouldn't suggest overclocking that stuff.

What about the graphics card?

what kind of GPU do you have? also, your PSU?

It depends on your graphics card, that you can software overclock (I have an Asus and it's GPU tweak works nicely), but MSI afterburner works well.
